AnotherWhere is my bachelor thesis project that investigates the potential of game technologies to create immersive 3D environments using real-world data. This project enables the procedural generation of abandoned cityscapes, crafting alternate realities for locations across the globe. While I was working at a startup focused on location-based games at the time, AnotherWhere served as an independent technical experiment exploring procedural generation's possibilities.
Throughout this project, I found joy in merging technical development with creative design. I dedicated significant time to writing and refining the generator scripts, exploring various approaches to achieve the desired results. It was during this project that my fascination with procedural generation truly began. In parallel, I developed a visual style that enhances the technology, ensuring both visual appeal and seamless integration. I also modeled and textured all necessary assets, implementing them into a Unity prototype that brought the concept of AnotherWhere to life.
Following the positive reception of my bachelor thesis, I was encouraged to expand my work by developing a game and eventually founding a company based on the concept. This decision marked the beginning of a long and transformative journey with AnotherWhere. [Click here to see where this journey has led me.]
