I’m a digital creator, technical artist, and game designer—whatever you fancy. I paint with pixels, shape with vertices, and code with passion. Since earning my System Design degree, I've been a game development lecturer and an independent designer. Besides that, I have a strong interest in graphic design and a weird obsession with generative art and procedural generation.
My journey as a designer began in 2014 when I was accepted into the Game Design program at HTW Berlin. During my bachelor's program, I collaborated with diverse teams on various projects, including Lunarium, Plato, and The Bill Carter Robbery. In 2017, I spent six months in Aarhus completing an internship at Aarhus University. Upon returning to Berlin in 2018, I joined a startup specializing in location-based mobile games, initially as an intern and later as a full-time designer. During this period, I also completed my bachelor's degree with a project titled AnotherWhere, which found quite positive feedback.
Motivated by the success of AnotherWhere, I formed a team to further develop the project. After winning a prize at the German Game Awards in 2019, I decided to leave my startup position to pursue self-employment. We founded a company, supported by funding from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, to work on releasing AnotherWhere as an independent game. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, the team disbanded, but I have continued to develop the game independently, aiming for a 2025 release.
Since 2019, I have been involved with HTW Berlin, the institution where I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees in system design (my masters project was a procedural toolkit called INDIGO btw). I have taught various courses on game development and thoroughly enjoy mentoring students to help bring their projects to life. In 2022, I assumed a as a research associate, focusing on the integration of artificial intelligence in games.
I've picked up quite a mix of skills over the years, with my biggest strength being the ability to blend technical understanding with some artistic talent. I am neither a pure techy coder nor a naturally gifted artist—I'm somewhat, somewhere in between. This somewhere feels to me like quite a sweet spot. It allows me to work comfortably across different departments and communicate effectively with team members from all backgrounds. At the same time, it allows me to bring my own projects to life without leaning too heavily on others.
I have experience in different programming languages as C++, Javascript and Python, however my go-to language is C#. With C# and the Unity game engine I’ve realized most of my projects. However, I also feel quite at Home in Unreal, mainly due to my work on AnotherWhere.
Out of all the digital tools out there my most beloved one is Blender. I started using it in 2017, mainly due to a lack of affordable alternatives and deeply rooted aversion to Maya. Today Blender is one of the first things I install on a computer (right after VSCode) and I get super exited when I am get tasked with something Blender related. Besides that I am also caught in a love-hate Relationship with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and the Adobe 3D suite. The loving part in that relation is me using the creative suit, while the hateful one is also me seeing Adobes invoices and user agreements.
